letting go

back bay, boston, massachusetts.

let go

i have decided to

let go

the pain is so hard to

let go

but new beginnings force me to

let go

she told me today, ‘don’t

let go’

but for her i must

let go.

but she is happy with me

let go

and i am happy with her

just let go

i don’t want to think about her with someone else

let go…

but what if she’s right for me

let go

she says she still loves me

let go

let go

i realized today that it is time to

let go

i’ve met new people and begun to

let go

i am still scared to

let go

but, in the end,

let go

if i love her, i need to

let go

When we are forced to adjust to a new situation, whether it be a new ‘home’ or a new beginning, we often stick with what we are used to: We find solace in our old friends, our family, or even our old love. Love is not a constant, unchanging state of being, but rather an emotion that passes with the waves; sometimes, if our boat goes adrift, and we find ourselves inextricably attached to something that cannot be, we must let go of our efforts, and allow the waves to take ourselves and our love back to shore. Letting go means that there are no guarantees, and that, as excellent as we may be for each other, circumstances and necessary exploration make it impossible for us to remain with each other.
